Individual Counseling

Recovery isn’t a straight line, and it’s not meant to be walked alone. Individual counseling gives you a steady, private place to make sense of what’s happened and what comes next — without judgment, without a script, and without pretending you’ve got it all figured out.

This is one hour a week (or every other week) where the only agenda is your real life: the heavy parts, the confusing parts, and the small wins that nobody else sees. We walk alongside you, not ahead of you.

What Individual Counseling Actually Looks Like

Each session starts where you are. There’s no curriculum to follow, no workbook you have to fill out. We talk about what’s actually keeping you stuck — a trigger you ran into, a relationship that’s frayed, a craving that surprised you, or just the quiet ache of wondering if you’ll ever feel normal again.

Your counselor listens carefully, names patterns you might miss, and helps you build real tools you can use the same afternoon. Over time, you’ll start to see the difference between who you were and who you’re becoming — and you’ll leave each session with something solid to hold onto.

How It Works

  1. 1. Reach out Call us or fill out the short contact form. A real person answers and will get you on the calendar within a few days — often sooner.
  2. 2. First session You meet your counselor one-on-one. No waiting room small talk required. We’ll talk about what brought you in and what you hope to walk away with.
  3. 3. Do the work Work through the hard stuff at your pace — some weeks are heavy, some are lighter. We’ll adjust as you go. No rush, no shame.
  4. 4. Build momentum You’ll start noticing shifts: more patience, fewer cravings, better boundaries. We’ll help you lock those in so they stick long after you leave.

Who This Is for (and When You Know It’s Time)

Individual counseling is for you if: you’ve tried white-knuckling it and it didn’t work, you’re fresh out of detox and need to build a life worth staying sober for, or you’ve been sober a while but feel restless, isolated, or like you’re just going through the motions.

It’s also for people who aren’t sure they have “a problem” but know something has to change. You don’t need a diagnosis or a rock bottom. If you’re here, you belong here. Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is walk into a room with someone who won’t tell you what to do, but will help you figure out what you truly want.

Questions We Hear Often

How often would I meet with a counselor?

Most people start with one weekly session, though some choose every-other-week or twice a week depending on their current stability. We build a schedule that fits your life and your recovery pace.

Do I have to talk about my past trauma or addiction detail?

Not at all. You can talk about anything that’s heavy on your mind — work stress, family tension, old habits, or just the plain loneliness of change. The conversation goes wherever it needs to.

Is this only for people in a 12-step program?

No. While many of our clients also work a 12-step program, individual counseling is its own thing — a private, professional space to sort through what meetings don’t cover.

Will my employer or family find out I’m coming here?

Never. We don’t share anything you say without your written permission, except in the rare case of immediate danger to yourself or someone else. Your trust is the ground this work stands on.
